People of the Lie - www.ezboard.com: "I have come across a single sitting summary of a book written By M. Scott Peck, M.D.
I am not promoting the book but I just find what has been summarized here as very intriguing and highly agreeable with the way I feel things to be. The book is called, 'People of the Lie' and it basically gives a rough definition of Evil. At least this definition of M. Scott Peck's agrees with me. Even though this gentleman is a 'religious' man what he says here does not fall within any particular religion's parameters. It could pertain to Catholics, Baptists, Buddhists, Wiccan's or Atheists. It does not matter. I'd be interested in any one else's opinion.

PEOPLE OF THE LIE
The Hope for Healing Human Evil
By M. Scott Peck, M.D., Simon and Schuster, New York, N.Y., 1983
This is a dangerous book We cannot begin to heal human evil until we are able to look at it directly. It is not a pleasant sight.
M. Scott Peck is best known for his best selling The Road Less Traveled. A thoughtful, religious man, and an experienced psychiatrist, in People of the Lie Peck undertakes a scientific study of the rarity of evil in the world. While he does not attempt to solve the problem of evil, he tries to create an awareness of the existence of evil as well as an understanding of the problems that all-too-commonly overrun our lives.
People of the Lie is intended to shine the light of scientific inquiry on the subject of human evil defined, most simply, as characteristics such as deception, selfishness, laziness, passivity, callousness and lack of compassion. Only by examining these evil"
